FALL FESTIVALS AND AWARDS
Made in Ethiopia has appeared at over a dozen festivals since the start of October, including its Asian premiere at Hong Kong Asian Film Festival (extra screening added for 9:35pm on November 25) and European premiere at Warsaw Film Festival, where it received the special mention by the jury, who said:Β
βThe story is told in a compassionate, nonjudgmental way, where nothing is black and white, where the viewer could understand the complexity of human characters, and the many layers of exploitation. The choice of the characters, the editing, the dramaturgy and the music was such a high quality filmmaking level that we cannot do anything but salute the creators."Β
We opened two environmental film festivals: Spainβs Another Way and Canadaβs Planet In Focus, where we won Best International Feature.
Both directors appeared at the Architecture Film Festival Rotterdam (more screenings available in the Netherlands with BEST of AFFR) before Xinyan headed to Vermont International Film Festival. Max had a warm welcome and a cold swim at Tallinn Black Nights, then on to Budapestβs Verzio International Human Rights Film Festival.Β Β
Our first London screening at BFI Film Africa Festival sold out the biggest screen at RichMix Cinema, with members of the UKβs Chinese and Ethiopian diasporas turning out for a dynamic Q+A.Β
Keep your eye on our website for upcoming screenings, including confirmed dates in Hong Kong, Zwolle and The Hamptons.

PRESS
In Spain, Made in Ethiopia was featured in the countryβs top daily paper El Pais, National Broadcaster TVE and Radio3.
Estonian broadsheet Postimees carried a double spread Q+A
Deadline quoted Ken Jacobson, the executive director of the Hot Springs Documentary Film Institute, on why he programmed our film in the Hot Spring Documentary Film Festival.
βI love that film and what I love about it is itβs a story that I knew nothing about. I think most people knew nothing about that,β Jacobson tells Deadline. βItβs told from these fascinating, different points of view β the Chinese factory owner, the workers in the factory, you really get all sides. And I think itβs brilliantly made, and I consider it one of the gems of the festival.β
